Terms of Use and Refund Policy

At Bill of Lading Data, we provide digital trade data products and services, including subscription access, bulk spreadsheet/file delivery, and API credits. By purchasing, accessing, or using our services, you agree to the terms below.

Because our products are digital and data-based in nature, all sales are generally final unless explicitly stated otherwise in this policy.

1. General Terms

Bill of Lading Data provides access to digital data products, software-based tools, subscriptions, API services, downloadable files, and related trade data solutions.

By using our services, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • all products are digital and non-returnable
  • access, delivery, or use of data products constitutes fulfillment of the order
  • data availability, field availability, market coverage, formatting differences, source limitations, or customer interpretation of the data do not qualify as grounds for refund unless otherwise agreed in writing
  • we may update, improve, modify, or discontinue parts of our platform, delivery methods, data sources, or technical features at any time

2. Product Categories

Our products generally fall into the following categories:

A. Subscription Services

This includes dashboard access, platform subscriptions, recurring access plans, and other time-based access services.

B. Spreadsheet / Bulk Data Delivery

This includes one-time file delivery, spreadsheet delivery, CSV/XLSX exports, bulk data packages, and custom data extracts delivered digitally.

C. API Credits

This includes prepaid API credits, usage-based API balances, and other credit-based API access products.

3. General Refund Position

Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, all purchases are non-refundable.

Refunds will only be considered where:

  • the purchased product is not delivered at all
  • access is not provided due to a verified fault on our side
  • there is a duplicate charge for the same order
  • there is a material technical failure that prevents delivery or access and cannot be resolved within a reasonable period

Refunds will not be issued for reasons including, but not limited to:

  • change of mind
  • budget changes
  • business decision changes
  • delayed customer use after purchase
  • dissatisfaction with data volume, structure, formatting, or field availability
  • the absence of specific fields, companies, ports, contacts, products, or shipment records
  • assumptions made by the customer about data coverage or expected results
  • source-country limitations, mirror data limitations, or third-party source limitations
  • inability to generate desired commercial outcomes from the data
  • partial availability of certain fields or records
  • customer failure to review product descriptions, samples, documentation, or API details before purchase

4. Subscription Services Refund Policy

Subscription products are governed by a general no-refund policy once access has been granted or the subscription period has started.

No refund will be issued for:

  • dissatisfaction with available data fields
  • dissatisfaction with country coverage, company coverage, or shipment volume
  • lack of specific data points, contacts, or records
  • non-use of the subscription after purchase
  • customer misunderstanding of platform features that were already described on the website or in documentation
  • inability to find desired results within the platform
  • business, research, sales, sourcing, or internal project outcomes not meeting expectations

Refunds for subscriptions may only be considered if:

  • access is not provided at all after payment
  • there is a verified technical issue or platform disruption caused by us that materially prevents use of the subscribed service
  • the technical issue cannot be resolved within a reasonable timeframe
  • there is an accidental duplicate charge

Where possible, service correction, account extension, or technical remediation may be offered instead of a refund.

5. Spreadsheet / Bulk Data Delivery Refund Policy

All spreadsheet, CSV, XLSX, and bulk data deliveries are non-refundable once the file has been delivered, sent, shared, made available for download, or transferred to the customer.

No refund will be issued for:

  • dissatisfaction with the contents of the file
  • missing fields, unavailable fields, sparse fields, or differently structured fields
  • data not meeting internal customer expectations unless those requirements were explicitly agreed in writing before purchase
  • customer no longer needing the data after delivery
  • customer misunderstanding of the scope, format, or source coverage
  • complaints based on interpretation, usability, analysis outcome, or business outcome of the delivered file

Refunds for bulk data delivery may only be considered if:

  • the file is not delivered at all
  • the delivery fails completely due to a verified technical issue on our side
  • the wrong file is delivered and we are unable to correct it within a reasonable timeframe
  • there is a duplicate payment for the same order

Once a file has been delivered, the order is considered fulfilled.

6. API Credits Refund Policy

All API credit purchases are final and non-refundable.

API Credit Rules

  • API credits are prepaid digital usage credits
  • once purchased, API credits cannot be refunded, reversed, or exchanged for cash
  • API credits are non-transferable unless otherwise approved in writing
  • API credits are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase
  • unused credits may expire after 12 months
  • expired credits are not refundable and may not be reissued unless we choose to do so at our discretion

No refund will be issued for:

  • unused credits
  • partially used credits
  • customer not integrating or using the API
  • customer dissatisfaction with endpoint output, field coverage, response structure, or available records
  • customer misunderstanding of API documentation or pricing
  • expiration of credits after the validity period

Refund consideration for API purchases will only apply if:

  • credits were paid for but never issued due to our fault
  • a duplicate charge occurred
  • there is a verified payment or provisioning error caused by us

7. Data Availability and Source Limitations

Trade data is subject to source-country rules, public record limitations, government release practices, mirror data limitations, supplier data limitations, customs declaration practices, filing inconsistencies, and other external factors.

By purchasing any service, you acknowledge that:

  • not all countries provide the same level of detail
  • not all fields are available for all records or countries
  • data fields may differ by market, source, period, and delivery type
  • some companies may appear under alternate names, logistics providers, freight forwarders, or related entities
  • data completeness may vary by jurisdiction and source

These limitations are a normal part of trade data products and do not constitute valid grounds for refund.

8. Delivery and Access

Estimated delivery times, activation times, and setup times are provided as guidance only unless expressly guaranteed in writing.

A product is considered delivered when any of the following occurs:

  • subscription access is activated
  • login credentials are issued
  • dashboard/API access is granted
  • files are emailed, shared, uploaded, or made available for download
  • API credits are added to the customer account

9. Chargebacks and Disputes

If you believe there has been a billing issue, duplicate payment, or delivery problem, you agree to contact us first so we can review and attempt to resolve the matter.

Unwarranted chargebacks on validly delivered digital products may be disputed using delivery records, account access logs, file transfer logs, email records, platform logs, or payment records.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bill of Lading Data shall not be liable for:

  • indirect or consequential loss
  • lost profits or missed business opportunities
  • decisions made based on the data
  • interpretation or reliance on third-party or source data
  • source delays, omissions, format changes, or field inconsistencies
  • losses arising from customer misuse or non-use of the data

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use and Refund Policy at any time. The latest version will be published on our website with the effective date. Continued use of our services after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
